Sky grey. Wind strong. Raod ride planned. Slurry covered country roads. Sweet smell of manure. Rasping breath as climb. And climb again. Taste of breakfast in mouth. Descend. Descend some more. Rear end goes sideways on slurry. Somehow correct. Pounding heart. Sweaty palms. Sick feeling in stomach. Almost as if about to ask Kate Moss out. Euphoria as realise that not mashed. Exactly like successfully asking Kate Moss out. Thought sustains me for the 10 mile climb of Gospel Pass. Realise this is inappropriate. Switch to Knightley. Views from top of the Pass stunning. Side wind buffeting. Descend gingerly. Dried cranberries and the loo in hay. 60 miles in. Legs ache. Climb out of hay. Flying. Damn those cranberries were good. Realise that have tailwind. Up into big ring. Fly some more. Legs cramping. Drop further down cassette. Start biting bars. Arrive home exhilarated. Best 84-mile-road-ride-before-having-to-rough-and-tumble-and-give-piggy-back-rides-to-neighbours-kids-for-45-minutes ever. Snooze in front of rugby. Head to pub. The End.
