Re:
Love the pics, I have to admit that it was me that cleaned up this bike. Having been injured at the start of this years racing season this was the perfect therapy to not getting out on the bike. Stripping the bike back to it's component parts and sympathetically cleaning and maintaining was a real eye opener. The quality of the the hand made/crafted components was staggering, showing virtually no wear. The only parts I replaced was the tyres, brake blocks and bar tape. By the end of the re-build I couldn't stop myself from popping back into the garage to sneak a peak. Once finished I test rode the bike and was stunned by the ride quality, comfortable and responsive, the position on the drops was a dream. Although heavy by today's standards, it didn't feel like it compared to my Trek madone as it felt so smooth.
This build has given me a real taste for restoration so I'm on the look out for a 1930's/40's claud butler and 1970's MKM Dominator to get my teeth into. I can't thank Rob enough for letting me loose on his Dad's Quinn it was a real honour.
