Rixon build

This build came about as a result of trying to find a frame with the potential for a more upright stem position than my others.
I already have a Rixon so was interested when this one popped up on The ‘Bay.
It’s a curious one, for sure. Rixon frames as far as I’m aware don’t go back that far but it seems to have some decidedly vintage touches like the fork crown, 120mm rear spacing and short cable stop on the chainstay. Two possibilities spring to mind. It’s a recent build for a vintage groupset or it’s an older frame refurbished by Rixon with more contemporary fittings added like bottle and gear bosses. The lack of an RX frame number also points to this.
Nevertheless, a lovely frame which was, given the rear spacing, ready for a single speed build. Once I have proven that my knees and the lanes of west Cornwall don’t suit that sort of a bike I will have to get my act together and find that Nuovo Record groupset that is lost under the stairs somewhere!
Any yes, I know it’s crying out for some tan wall tyres!

Looks like the paint's in good nick overall apart from the usual chips around the chain/seatstays.

Paint is certainly presentable. There is a run of chips on the fork blade and some crazing at the top of the other seat stay but that’s the worst of it. Hopefully I should be able to find some nail varnish to match.
It takes a 27.2 post but is not a light frame. No bad thing really as the odd thicker gauge tube here and there is welcome on a large frame that would flex noticeably with thinner tubes. The whole style of the frame is a bit of a mix of old and new. All the details are quite different to my other Rixon.
