RIP my top right molar

My upper front four are mixed in with the rocks on a bridleway in Grizedale forest.Went for a wander over the bars due to going too slow because I had forgotten my helmet. Seem to remember some snapping noises and quite a bit of pain. I had hit a bedded in rock and stalled followed by the run down the top tube and out of the front door.Cant say I would want to do it again.It hurt a bit.

I'm sat here holding my face and all my teeth are on edge now reading through this!!

I had one taken out in hospital, first ever extraction, a couple of years ago. After the initial injection (nurse - do you want to hold my hand? Me -no! Seconds later I nearly broke her hand) it was the most painless tooth related thing I've ever had done.

The surgeon was an absolutely brilliant little Indian guy who said it may break so he may have to cut it out, but then he proceeded to get it out cleanly and laughed his head off, as he couldn't get over the length of the roots, so how he ever managed to pull it out I will never know, especially with no pain to me at all. I have also never had any more trouble with my sinuses that side!

He put it in a jar and I proceeded to terrorise everyone at work with it for a week. The hospital gave me strong painkillers and swab things to stick in the hole, as they thought it would bleed a lot, but it didn't and I never needed the pain killers. Previous to that extraction, the abscess had given me pain like I have never known in my life, so it was a huge relief.

early 2000's. Wisdom tooth has to come out

small lady nurse, even lady smaller dentist, in between tugs I ask 'goo yu wantsh shome help?'

about a lifetime later I hear and feel a loud crack and out pops the tooth with the sound of a nail from wet wood.

another tooth has grown in its place. rather freakishly, its the 3rd tooth to come through in my 30's.

That is the most accurate description of a noise I have ever heard and exactly how I remember it, lol! Still holding face and grimacing a lot.... :|

Had to have all me wisdoms out, this is the 80's when dentists were allowed to give general anesthetics. All were removed while asleep, what was horrid was back at the shared house I lived in I bled till about 2am swallowing mouthfuls of blood every 20 seconds. finally stopped and went to sleep, 3am up and vomiting blood constantly till 7am finally asleep, next day I felt like I'd been run over, could hardly move Thanks Terry (Tracy) for being there. Three weeks later finally went back feverish and had the stitches removed and a weeks supply of antibiotics.

Thank god dentists can no longer give GA's and you have to go to hospital where they don't kick you out 5 mins after waking up.

My son when you look at his teeth everything looks normal, when he opens wide there is a tooth right in the middle of his palate like it's floating in the middle of nowhere weird.

I got all my wisdom teeth out when i was 14 or 15. Our friendly consultant convinced my parents it was the thing to do. Just the local anesthetic , a bit of cutting and a lot of tugging at them.

Id agree that dentists today from the majority have soft and caring hands

Ive also had 2 GA in the chair(and 5 sedations now) then shoved out the door 5 mins after waking
One left me terribly upset and depressed for about a week and the other they had big problems awakening me that they started to get very worried. Ambulance was called but before it arrived i started to come too.
Apparently they had me by the lapels and were shaking me quite violently :shock:


Dont talk to me about Dentists :evil:

Just in slight mitigation........I have spent about a million quid in the last ten years on dental implant reconstructions, a fair chunk on cyclists who have had "offs".

Including the guy who came back from the pub who decided the cleats might be a bit difficult so put his hand out to steady himself on the car parked on the drive. Only that day he had put it in the garage!!

My next option- 2 to support a lower denture, 4 would be better but i dont think i can afford that :? How much as im more than willing to travel
