Just got it, it came all the way from the U.S.A.

So as you already suggested, it won't fit the 8-speed. So I will have to modify it. I will take help from a mechanic for that, hopefully next week.

It's a rare beasts, I'd say maybe don't chop it but sell it to someone who needs 8 speed and get a seven. Depending on what you paid we could do a deal. My 2 for your one or something along those lines?

I got a pretty good deal on it. The NOS Sachs I have seen on eBay is ridiculously expensive. I will check with the mechanic, possibly I will pass it on for what I paid for it. But as I understand it, it can be turned to a 7-speed without destroying it.
