Rim tape width for Mavic 217?

Quite possibly, either 16mm or 17mm tape will suffice with these being narrow rims at 559mm x 17mm. If it's similar to my 317s, the inner width of the rim were the tape fits is 17mm. The outer rim width is probably around 21mm or 22mm.

22mm is whats on them just now and its a 'snug' fit, do you know the weight saving 19mm over 22mm tape :shock:

The 17mm tape weighs in at around 15 grams, depending on how much is used. The 22mm will incur an extra 3 grams or so. Also, for the inner width, the clue is in the title – Mavic 217...

If you want to save weight, cut small squares approx 20 x 20 mm, from cloth based (non stretchy) duck tape and stick over spoke holes.

Ive done it to one wheel about 2-3 years and it hasnt failed yet..... admitedly ive only used that bike a handful of times
