gents i look to you for your honest advise on a new project that i have just started  .

project frankenklein

klein pulse pro frame with rigid forks and fred salmon bar stem combo
i am going single speed as i have never tried this and it looks like fun and should be light.

i am going for xtr 950 v brakes/ levers and hubs

the big question is what rims to go for, i want something lightish but that wont need re-trueing every 5 minutes, the bike will be used on canal towpaths and graveled cycle tracks on a disused airfield near me.

i was thinking mavic 317 or 717 32 hole i have never used either and would greatley appreciate you knowledge and advice

cheers

717 rims all the way if you can afford them there stronger than xm 317 rims even though they weight the same  8)   mavic do make a good strong rim or have you considered the stans rims they build up quite nicely  or if you give elite 501 a pm he might have some sun zero degree lite rims and they are the nuts

cheers for the reply cannondale king

i was leaning toward the 717 but will look into the others you have suggested

cheers

I've got a set of 317's and they're good strong rims that are OK weight wise. They are however a total pain in the arse to get tyres on and off for some reason. Must be the side effect of having deep braking surfaces.
