Ridgeback 603GS

Thinking about it - that is a pretty good basis for a late 80's build with MT-60 DX and those rather fetching Red S cranks.

Independent frame makers liked to make their frames different, looking at the other frames and the lugs/ forks etc, I dont think this is a custom job, but perhaps a short run jobbie from one of the big boys.

I bet the tubes make a loverly 'ting' and I will also bet a bicycle thats a 531 MTB frame.

My CB, the one LGF mentions has much more aggressive geo and the brakes run on standard Canti mounts. I know the history as it has been mine since new.
To me that looks like someone has taken an 80's slack angled frame (may indeed be 531 and the Crowned forks indicate an 80's frame too) and welded some small sections of tube to it to mount the Maguras. I reckon it is that Saracen Conquest frame with the tube sections added.

I got this to sell for parts, but flogged it to my friend. Don't tell me it's valuable!

Defo think it's original as has patina + specific canti guides for magura. Frame has magura bosses and nearly full dx (not deore)

Just seen.... Why would you put a canti bridge on a magura specific frame? Can't run canti's on this bad boy? :?

its a cable stop for cable Maguras.

COuld have been modded and sprayed in the early 90's when the HS11's and DX came out. Forgot to mention the canti hanger.

My '91 Hydrotech runs on std canti mounts (although guides are made to run the pipe), i don't think Saracen made a magura specific mount bike, could be wrong though.

problem is, nobody knows what Saracen made!

If this was a bespoke Magura high end bike, it would have cost a hell of a lot and wouldnt have sold in great volume.

The `92 Saracen E-stays ( Kili Pro, Kili Flyer, Conquest & Conquest Elite )
were Magura hydraulic specific i.e no canti bridges.

The Evo mounts were available in the early 90's and certainly available for HS11. It's a lot of expense modifying your frame for magura specific mounts when the evo mounts were available and used by manufacturers in the earl 90's, so i think it's no later than '89. Unless they were made by the manufacturer as it is. The maguras on this bike are hydrostops very similar to mine but a different mount.

Going by that rear canti stop then it can't be much older than '89 either.

.

:o :o God didn't think this would come to much.

Thought this was a 90 Ridgeback, could be a Saracen and could be earlier than 89.

This is great guy's

Brock, don't worry you can see it when ever you like.
