Ribble 531 Competition Raw Steel

Have been finishing my Holdsworth Mistral ready for the winter so I tried the rear wheel with a 28mm tyre to check out the clearance on the Ribble. With the dropout adjuster in its original position there was clearance on the chain stays though winding them fully back gave extra room. In it's current form the Raw Steel Ribble weighs in at 8.5kg...its really great to have such a light fast agile frame that will take bigger tyres, mudguards and a rack and is truly adaptable... :)rps20201123_075149_312.jpgrps20201123_075209_476.jpgrps20201123_075230_266.jpgrps20201123_075253_253.jpg

Only an opinion .... but I prefer the more svelte look of the 'new' wheels. I look forward to seeing how the mudguards work out.

I'm running with the new wheels.. just testing the 28mm tyres to see what the clearance was like.
The Royce hubs are starting to bed in and freehub loosening up with use. These are some of the smoothest and long lasting hubs available and 'Made in England' but expensive at around £500 a pair. Front hub is a Royce Ultralight with titanium axle and weighs 104g , rear a Royce Venus with stronger stainless steel axle and weighs 340g...both 24 hole. Rims are DT Swiss RR585 with 30mm semi-aero profile..a tad on the heavy side but bombproof. Spokes are Sapim stainless double butted and J&L titanium skewerage.20201015_101002.jpg20201012_165050.jpg

Yesterday's dump find, a pair of Dura-Ace climbing wheels for a tenner. Weighing in at approximately 1300g the pair i may be able to get the Raw Ribble weight down to near 7.5kg with these bad boyz.20210412_125001.jpg20210412_125020.jpg
