RetroRoadRide Series Rd 1: Cheddar Gorge ~ 08/03/14

Okey doke. See you sometime around 7.15. Not sure what the plan is for changing. We could grease up at Gordanos, not together obviously :)

I'd actually like to do this, as the profile looks a challenge, but I don't have a road bike, and have never ridden in a group on the road. Have fun, some lovely scenery to enjoy, and route goes past where I got engaged to my wife

What size are you (bike size in cm)? Might be able to lend one of mine?

Thanks for the offer, but not sure you should trust me. I've never ridden a road bike :oops: Think I am 58cm I guess. I'm Tim C on Strava, I recognise most of your names from there, and you all do more miles than I

Mourning Maud.....

@ pyro tim we'd love to see you there. Is there no way you can rustle up a "proper" bike ? :wink: I'll have a look in dads shed when I get there . He's got a 58cm Cannondale hanging from the ceiling, but it might have man gears on it.

I don't think we'll be riding in a TDF peloton type stylee and maybe Bobbinogs can explain the etiquette of group riding before we set off to make sure we all speak the same language.

There's been rumours that we may even get to see Uncle Monty too.

I think we'll do the new improved MM mkV route as its a little easier after the cake stop and I don't want to do a big spit going up a hill.

It's a little shorter and if you really feel really short changed we can always find something extra special to finish you off with :D.

9:00 for 9:30 pedals at the ready then. No Saturday lay in for you then Daj :lol:

@Bobbinogs, Change al fresco.

Ugh, Grease up????? We're going bike riding not cross channel swimming..........

I'm on the bus and someone has dropped the beefiest fart !!!!!!!!!!!! Christ pew!!!!!!!

No, my mate ride real bikes, and like to get dirty :lol: Although there is talk of turning to the dark side of asphalt. Not sure I can handle man gears, I have a 22 tooth granny on my mtbs ;) 42 is my big ring

Robin and Dave - I have wangled a swanky works van for Saturday, the only caveat is we have to shove some diesel in. Easy to chuck the bikes in the back, loads of room for bags / stuff / spare brake calipers for Dave. Plus it will double up as a handy portable changing facility as i don't think the ladies of The West Country are quite ready for the fate that currently awaits them. Is this ok with you two?

Adam - Whats the parking like where we are meeting? Car parks with height restrictions? Somewhere to shove a van?

Excellent Karl !!! 8)

Of course no probs with fuel !!! :xmas-big-grin:
