Is the Tesla a better car than a '70s muscle car?
Of course it is and I don't think anyone would argue differently. It's more efficient, handles much better, is more reliable, more comfortable...........the list goes on.
Is it more desirable?
That's a whole different question.
I drive, as my daily motor, a 30 year old Land Rover . I do about 15,000 miles a year in it. I love it to bits & have far more fun driving it than any new car I've driven.
Is it as good as a new car- Hell no! It's got loads of faults and foibles, the build quality is diabolical (much like a lot of 'high end' bike components back in the day) and the design is archaic, it's noisy, uncomfortable, slow and cold.
Would I change it?
Not for anything. But that doesn't mean I can't except that things have improved with time.
Same goes for a 30 year old mountain bke.
We may PREFER old bikes, but we're delusional if we think new bikes aren't better tools for the job.
