retro s/s build or spanking new?

quite a difference really between a singlespeed explosif and a langster :? whats your commute like? and do you need the bike to do anything else? simple answer is to have both :)

My commute is now flat, approx 4.5 miles. piece of cake. I really cant afford to keep the Explosif and not use it though.

Watch this space for a huge retro sell off.

To be fair there are much better buys than the Langster too.

Some of the special editions are rather nice, but I'm all ears to other suggestions... charge plug?

Poser nonsense.

If you are adamant on the fixie thing then go with a retro road frame with semi horizontal dropouts, nice fixed/free rear wheel and jobs a good un.

A maximum of £150 spent and it wont mean you have to wear tight jeans and have 6'' handlebars.

Picked up a langster early this year just to try the single speed thing.Haven't ridden anything else since I got it. Been clearing out my retro rides. Makes a nice change to have something modern.

that makes you (and me) posers

I think the langster is a nice lightweight speed machine with no complications, shame the price has risen nearly £100 since they were first released though...

I guess I just wanted to keep hold of my explosif in some shape or form, but these guys are right, spend much more than £150 and it kind of negates the point of s/s in the first place.

this is another avenue im looking at. I know nothing about 70s road frames but I do spot occasional nice ones that may fit the bill for a s/s build

chuck something together, add bits now and again from different eras

PS
Have you seen the crud you get new these days, mid range components @ the grand mark
