Surprised to find out that quad skates and roller discos seem to be making a comeback, spent about 3 hours skating at Bisley Roller Disco with the family last night, really enjoyed it, it went down so well both kids are asking can we go again today! Also really glad that I refused to sell our skates (I have a set of Roces and the wife Bauer Turbos) at a car boot.
On the downside and it looks like I will now have to fork out £50 for two sets of kids skates (still they will be paid for after no skate hire in 4 visits) , the good thing is that they want quads and aren't interested in the modern inlines!
Found out that our old place where the wife and I had our first dates skating is back up and running again, so were off there next week, so Saturdays skating, Sundays riding, happy days!

I wonder if roller derby has anything to do with it?

You should send your wife to do roller derby.

Not seen that before, looks like some scary participants in that!

Don't be fooled by the image of US roller derby... my mates wife is a member of one of the teams that competes nationally, and I've been to a few events...

It's populated by overweight tattooed butch EMO types with pink and blue hair, and it's VERY lame in terms of contact... they teach you how totally over safely before you can start training as a team member FFS

Thank god for that....

Inline skates are just pap.

Flogged my Bauer's years ago.. :(

I thought this too and indoors they are, my mate who I found out about these events through used to skate with quads (infact my Roces are his old ones) and does now, but only indoors, he says you just can't keep up with inlines outdoors.
I'm going to stick with the indoors stuff I think as I must have lost at least 1lb last night in sweat alone!

@uncle, definitely look like shemales, but I guess everything is over safe these days and it's not going to be like the running man.

Still haven't had that much fun in ages, but my legs hurt today.

Rubbish, inlines probably have more of an actual sport following than quads. Speed and marathon is almost exclusively inline, hockey heavily dominated. Maybe for indoors, a bit of retro chic, and fashion quads are having a bit of a revival - and fair play, it's nice to see, but inlines are far from rubbish. I have about 8 pairs of inlines (3 hockey, a couple street, and some that are more freeskate orientated. At some point, I wouldn't mind some quads (been at least 20 years since I've been on, or owned any quads) but I wouldn't sacrifice any of my inlines to get some.
