Retro BSO

my mate has one of these. as mentioned it is reasonably light and the pivot isnt as slack as i thought it would be. he assumed his to be a claud butler as it came from someone who worked in the factory.
 
No idea what it is, and TBH I'm having mixed feelings about it. The rear section and damper look BSO-ish to me, as does the lack of detail on the frame.
On the other hand, it is indeed an aluminium box frame, which suggests that it's not a BSO after all. I'm thinking it's still a low-end bike though.

As for the forks and ahead stem, those look like an upgrade. The forks have disc tabs, but I see none at the back.

Personally, I'd go for it if I could get it for a good price.
You can probably upgrade the rear shock, which would improve the handling. It think with some TLC and minor upgrades it could become a good and unique bike.
