I've just been quoted £175 for a basic single colour frame & fork respray.

I've not done this for a while so my question is.....is this reasonable?

seemed a little harsh to me but maybe i'm a bit out of touch.

is that paint spray or powdercoat. I'm guessing the former.

Not sure about wet paint, but you can get powder coat for as little as £25 for a single colour (if you're in Derbyshire, Derwent Enamellers do it as cheap as this in Derby).

I paid £105 for a frame and forks , 3 faded colours . included were the sand blasting , and application of decals .

Paint does cost more than powder, but thats still high, I had my Roberts Genesis done by bob jacksons for £125 inc new decals.

That sounds very unreasonable. I'm thinking of getting mine done by Mercian and they quoted £90 for frame (includes stripping old paint) + £22 extra for masking the chrome chainstay and dropout. That's a top professional job in wet paint with a lacquered finish by cycle frame specialists.

Powder coating varies, usually £30 - £65 for frame and forks combined. Shot blasting about £15. Bigger, or busier/popular companies usually charge less and stock more colours I find. Some can be quite arsey and don't do bike frames, so don't just turn up on their doorstep . Best to find one by word of mouth or flick through the yellow pages getting quotes.
