Respray colour and new decals for 94 Kona Kileuea?

79adv

Retro Newbie
So I have a Covid Lockdown project.
My Kona Kileuea which I purchased new back in 1994 when I was 15yo.
My Mum ( a keen cyclist) has had it in her collection of bikes for the past 20 years and in an effort to get active I have had it back to ride it. However I seem to have fallen down a rabbit hole of first restoring it to original ish status.
So far I have stripped, cleaned, greased and rebuilt it, and ebay found all the parts to bring it back to how i remember it. My mum had made some "comfort" changes to it.
But i also want to price up a garage rattle can spray job.
How can i find or does anyone know the colour match for this years model or what comes close? (Light grey)
Primer, Colour and Lacquer? Whats good? and from where?

And then ill be looking for reasonable decals?

Any help or guidance is much appreciated.

For decals probably start with Gil on here who does a great [email protected]
gil@ thecycleshed. co.uk

If you strip the frame to bear metal you’ll need an etch primer first then an undercoat - it’s a lot of work but many have done it

I’ll look to dig out a link or two

Re:

Opening gambit; it's your bike to do what you want with...... but unless it's really shoddy, I would preserve the original paint and decals.

Are you able to post up some pictures?

I personally think its looking fairly battered, and looks like my Mum in an attempt to stop some rusting or to protect some bear metal has taken to hand painting some sections of the bike most likely with hammerrite.

If photos dont work they are here - https://79photography.com/kona-kileuea

As I got it back after 20 years.

Re:

Can highly recommend gil too for decals, he's done some for a few of my bikes, including my 94 Kilauea. I wasn't brave enough to respray myself! But found a company near Bristol that did a good job on powder coating for a very reasonable price

Oh that looks spot on.
Do you mind giving me a idea of what a reasonable price is?
