Went for a ride round Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge, Loughrigg Fell etc this morning.
Part way round my front caliper decided to become dislodged, which resulted in completing the ride with just a back brake.

Rocky descents and slippy slate river beds + no front brake = change of pants required and a smoking rear brake (new pads now required!)

Got into Ambleside, went to Bike Treks and they provided me with replacement bolts free of charge. I know it's not a massive gesture, but nice bit of Sunday karma!
Impressed!

Great little shop.
Last time I was in there we were sheltering from a tail-end of a rainstorm during an unsupported coast to coast ride a couple of years ago.

We generally dripped on everything and got the floor very wet, but everyone in there was very friendly and didn't seem to mind.

Eventually somebody bought something and we got some good info on a bit of secret singletrack, which we duly incorporated into our journey.

Always worth popping in if you're in the Lakes.

Thoroughly unrelated to the LBS, but the youth hostel in Ambleside is a cracker aswell. As are the local pubs :D

Had a few great weekends using it as a base and would highly recommend it if anyone fancied a weekend away biking/climbing etc.

I can heartily recommend Daisy's Café in Ambleside too

mostly because it's run by one of my best mates, and second of all coz he's a member on here...shhh ;)
