So i've got a shit pair of quando hubs on a nice pair of mavic rims. How do i find out if there are any other hubs that i could lace in with out buying new spokes etc.
You would need to know that the diameter between the holes 'circle' is the same (or with in wheel building tolerance). (or distance between the hub holes for the same number of holes is the same or very close.
But just buy new spokes, they don't cost that much and
when re-building wheels you should ALWAYS use new spokes! the original one would have stretched during building and should not be re used. should only cost you £15 at the most for some dt spokes for both wheels.

Depends on the age of the original built wheels. I wouldn't throw away 64 DT spokes that had seen only light use. If the wheels have multiple seasons of hard use, dump the spokes, they are junk. If the spokes are fairly new and barely used, I'd use them without concern.
I'd rather have lightly used spokes in a wheel than a used rim, and lots of you guys on the site build up used rims.
only going by what the guys at dt told me. spose they would say that though! i am also uber hypocritical as my wheels have had some right dodgy old spokes chucked on em in their time!
These rims have barely been used. The cartridge bearings in the rear hub just aren't big enough. Even though the wheels are only lightly used (anodising not even fully worn thru on breaking surface) the drive side bearing is knackered.
Couldn't you just get new (better) bearings for the hub instead?
Though if you find a nice hub go for it, I would then see if the spoke length is correct, if so useing them is up to you, if not just get some new one's
