Funky Steel Frame Designs

Canuk

Old School Grand Master
First up one of my all time favourites: a Mecacycle Turbo fillet brazed split seat tube lo pro. This one is quite plain, Columbus SL but there are versions with no bolt seat post/stem systems and fairings but I like the simplicity of this version. Also quite a few aluminium versions and very rare titanium Mecas. Very collectible, especially popular in Germany and Spain where there's a small industry repairing/repainting them.

A super rare Colnago Master Bititan Mapei, this is the steel version of the famous carbon Bititan. Apparently Tony Romingers favourite frame to race.

Ganolo, France. Love the way the gear cable pops out of the curved seat tube.

My Bespoke split seat tube served me well in 83 & this photo is me on the ski slope course doing a 59.09 on a cold October morning.
This bike had a 35” wheelbase & was very lively to handle

This Ganolo popped up on Ebay recently. The frame design isn't that far away from the Colnago Y1Rs when you compare the two. 21st century "innovation" from Colnago or just rehashing old ideas?

That's a fair bit ambitious price wise: Ganolos like this tend to sell 1000-1300e (£850-£1100). They're still quite rare though, I've got my eye on one near Geneva, but it's a pig of a drive to get it 😲😜
