Replacement Shock(Risse Racing)/ Info on Rocky Mountain EDGE

Sithlord

Old School Grand Master
Just received my latest addition to the bike family a
ROCKY MOUNTAIN EDGE T.O Full Bouncer.. .(Thanks Tim) It has a Risse shock on the rear...
...I think the Shock needs either a rebuild or replacement, tried getting in touch with CVI today , no joy,, someone has said they may have gone bust ?!! is this correct ?

Is there anyone in the UK who can rebuild/replace this shock unit ? tried a few today but no joy.. (TF Tuned/Mojo)

Was told that I could buy a Fox replacement unit at a cost of around £ 300.00 !!

Would appreciate any information on this frame and shock... think the frame is around 93/95 ?

Thanks in advance..

Risseracing.com is the company web address-they are still in business here in California. They are in Redding, Ca.-phone #530-246-8700. If you can't get help in the U.K., then the factory should be able to rebuild your shock.

Thanks for that fella, would really like to get it done local (UK) but if not then at least I know where to go.. Thanks.... I'll have to send them a email and see if they would help? would you help if they wont ship etc. ?

Risse are quite helpful and they will ship abroad - the guy to get hold of is Josh.

CVI went bust in April 06 :(

If you have no luck my Risse is currently on ebay - don't know if it'll be the right shape/size for you though. May go cheap as not many people have heard of them, but they are very good quality.

Yea Sith-if they won't ship then PM me and I will help. You know, I recently bought an old LAWWILL LEADER fork with a Risse shock. It is an air/oil shock and it didn't want to work at first, so I took it apart and cleaned it and reassembled it with 55cc of 5 weight motorcycle fork oil and then pumped it to about 70 pounds and it worked once again. Now these numbers for the amount of oil and air may be different for your shock, as it is for the rear, but it usually is a matter of just cleaning and reassembling that does it. Another thing on the shock is the air valve-if it is for a needle valve, then pry the little rubber insert out and roll it around in your fingers for a bit to make it round inside again-then reinsert and it should work fine again. If none of this works-then send it to the factory-it should be cheap to get it done there.

Unfortunately that's the wrong fit. The RM Edge is of the AMP B2 design and would require the same shock. Per Risse's site the beast you require is a Genesis Damper in this configuration:

I've a load of AMP and AMP-derived frames and have done much business with Risse. A good bunch of guys that provide top-notch service at a fair price. I'm pretty sure standard shock overhauls are only about US$35 + S/H, and I'm sure they'd have no problem shipping abroad.
