A lot of the time BITD manufacturers made a frame and it was the kit hanging off it that decided it's price point and they each got different names and paint jobs (except the elite stuff of course)
If it's a decent frame made of decent tubing, then stick the best you can on it, it's worth it
And yeah, ultimately you've picked a good frame and are talking about great bits
So you'll end up with a fab bike
If that an outcome you can live with go for it
- I've got a rockhopper, it's aquamarine and 300LX 100% original - Cool looking bike very of it's time
I've also got a Saracen Race Elite e-stay which Deore DX and Altus(!) on it
I slung the Altus and built it back with DX/LX/XT and it is great, I did it cos I liked the frame, Tange double butted, Great paint looks cool
Later found out that it is THE SAME frameset as elevated chainstay Kilis, just different decals and some rubbish parts... Thereby proving the point
