Removing headset cups from 1990 Xizang

I've got an Icetoolz (least I think it is...) headset cup removal tool. I'm pretty sure it cost around £10 delivered from one of the big online bike shoppes.

I've used it countless times, works well, cost little, never seen any signs of marks or damage to any headset cups I've removed.

Given that some tools are pretty cheap, and people obviously care about some of the things they use them on, I don't get the point of bodging or scrimping on something like that. I mean fair enough, if a tool is a bit more costly - my ghetto headset press has been used plenty of times, too and hasn't let me down - but more importantly, hasn't caused any damage or made a mess of anything.

The top headset cup is fine in one piece, but the bottom one looks like it's sheared, broken off so only the ring that sits in the frame.

I will get some photos tomorrow morning

But thanks for the suggestions so far

I really don't want too damage the frame so am willing too buy the right tools, even a work shop stand

Re:

As with Neil the Ice-Toolz one is very good and can be bent out at the end if it slides through.

If it won't come out then they are very easy to remove with a hacksaw blade.

The right tool for the right job  Theyre only a tenner usually and invaluable.
Think of some of the other tools in your bike gear . How many times this year have you used that park chain tool, or those cone spanners :?
In the world of bike recycling you'd be surprised how hard you can hit things :D
