Try as hard as you can to save the front mech at least as they are very awquard to fit as I recently found  had to modify mine on a grinder  good fun though  well worth salvaging as the frame design you have there was thought up by john whyte the ex benneton f1 suspension designer and was the first full suspension frame to win a cross country race iirc  good luck mate
If you look closely in one of the pics the front mech is broken so will need a new one and the back one is twisted. :(

Paul lasenby I think and in early 1997 when the prototype model had not quite been released:wink:

Thats it! I recall now.

Anyone know the spec of his bike or have any photos?

(sorry for the slightly off topic post)

Paul Lasenby, the Mount Vision.... Plenty of MBR articles were printed about them if I remember.

I seem to remember the 1st and generation having two different swingarm revisions.

As for the old components, in all honesty I would sell or bin them and start again?

Pauls Mount Vision was pretty much kitted out for light weight, I am sure he was one of the 1st to sport the Middleburn Duo chainset. He managed to get the weight down to a very respectable level but at a cost. (I also seem to remember King hubs?)

I ran my own with Pace Pro Class Crossmax and 950 series XTR, at one point I also reduced the travel with a short coil and ran Amp F3's up front. I also had the frame and swingarm polished.

I have m950 xtr full kit on mine and a king headset but not hubs and it is polished and is a mark 1 with 1st generation swing arm that were known to crack  Mine is new old stock and only purchased this year so should be o.k for a good while.

I have been looking for pics myself but no luck yet.

Found some. First one is dated 1997 and the other from 2000.

In the first pic I think I see full XTR, Monkeylite bars and King hubs. Standard fare for XC racers of that era. I think hes running a Ringle stem too and Manitou SX Ti.

Not sure about the second pic. Definitely a different stem and the hubs are different too (could just be Red King hubs). The fork has a different crown too.
