Chromebooks are fine, but it is nearer £200 odds for a decent one that has the screen to compete with a decent laptop, and then there are lots of other reasons to get a proper laptop when it comes to working with larger files and such.
We use an Macbook Pro 17" for sofa computing, as well as a Samsung that rocks. When I need to edit web shit I am on the iMac i7 27" mostly now I am back into iOS, but when I need real grunt I use an IBM compatible i7 with 32GB all singing all dancing. Horses for courses.
