Rear dropout adjuster screws - educate me

In the course of restoring a Viscount Aerospace Pro I recently needed to buy a pair of Track Adjusters. I decided, because of the ridiculous prices , to buy instead some M3 stainless steel Allen capscrews and matching dome nuts.

I now have a neat and rust free solution to the problem at a fraction of the price.

I tightened the dome nut firmly onto the screw, with the dome inside the dropout. I allowed for about 4mm of adjustment on both sides when cutting the screws to length. I installed the wheel with both adjusters fully 'out', and simply screwed in the appropriate adjuster to compensate for small frame inaccuracies.

If I need to remove the wheel I make sure both adjusters are up against the axle before releasing the Q/R

Back in the dark days of the 70's we screwed the things so far down the dropout there was nothing sticking out the rear end at all :)

The only thing holding the wheel in was about 20% of the front part of the dropout ....... SWB was the fashion :D
