Rear Campagnolo cone

Hello,

I'm looking for a replacement cone for what I believe to be a 1980s Campagnolo Chorus rear hub (it was fitted with a 7 speed freewheel and looks just like the ones on Velobase).

EDIT - the axle is slotted (as are the steel washers - the alloy drivesaide spacers are not) if that helps with dating the hub at all?

Can anyone help?

For a rear you usually need 10 x 26 but look around the outer edge of the cone. It should be written there.

Thank you. Do you know if these fit the older 1980s hubs? Pretty sure it hasn't a 9 or 10mm axle

I have Campag hubs from the '80s that run 10 x 26 on the rear. Look at the inscription on your existing cone which should state the size. You could talk to Spa as well. If not sure, for a few pounds it might it might be worth buying one to check it out. If not the right size you could always re-sell it here if you keep it in good condition. Campag cones are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

FWIW, there's nothing written on my cones or axle apart from BREV CAMP. I've tried a 10mm track nut and it won't thread onto the Campy axle, so inclined to think the Spa Cycles cone won't fit. I'll give Spa a try. I tried Mercian but not had a reply yet.

Right, feel silly now as I re-checked the cones and they are indeed stamped 10 x 26, just didn't look hard enough!

Make sure that the cone you get, has the same thickness.
Otherwise, worse comes to worse, you can use a complete new axle of other brand. Of course, you won't be able to thread on the Campagnolo cones/nuts. Sometimes this is the best solution, as original axles do get fatigued and bend, and may even break (ask me how I know it...)

So an update, the SJS replacement seems to work fine
