You might think directing him to 'tinternet so he can see what a real one looks like would be a good idea.

So that's what I did.

His reply to me.......

had a look online and they look the same ok there are slight differences granted but that could just a different year/model, i dont nothing about bikes but why would some make a fake bike frame that make no sense, i could be wrong but i cant see a bike frame being faked

So there.

i got bored so sent this.........

hi

just letting you know your frame isnt made by orange , it's a carrera vulcan (halfords own brand of bike) some not very clever person has painted it up to look like a much more expensive frame which anyone who knows bikes will know that this is a fake....

it's like having a ford focus 1.4 bottom of the range and sticking the bodykit and badges from a focus rs (top of the range) and trying to pass it off as something it's clearly not.

sadly i can't see anyone silly enough buying it , but i can see the listing being reported since trying to pass off cheap items as really expensive items which is fraud.........

i hope you change the listing because if someone buys it and finds out what it is they'll want to send it back to you and you'll get negative feedback for your efforts...

all the best..........

Its a Claud Butler - probably would get £20 if it hadn't been resprayed!

I don't want to start an argument here as I've only seen pictures of the Butler. However it looks to me like the Butler's top tube is welded to the headset and the bottom tube mostly connected to the top tube, with only a minor part connected to the headset.
On that so-called Orange, both the top and bottom tube have a (more or less) equal contact patch with the headset. The connection between those 3 looks completely different on both bikes.

It could well be a Claud Butler. The Cape Wrath D24/D27 from a few years ago shares quite a few similarities with that frame

Cable routing, drop out, semi integrated aheadset & mech hanger are all in a Claud Butler stylee

But quite a few frames shared those same features, LandRover and some cheapo generic alloy frames too

Not the best pics in the world, but you can just make out the cable routing both above and below the top tube, also the drop outs (if you squint and ignore the mud) are very similar

Friendly hint/warning sent

Hi
I know I've emailed you about this before, as have several others "in the know". The reason you have no bids is that people looking at this know that it is not a clockwork and looks nothing like one. As it is clearly a fake I think you should withdraw it as I think it is only a matter of time before someone reports you to ebay

Let's see what he does

His response

i think youv been ringing your mates asking them to message me,

look iv put that you message'd me saying it mite fake in the listing,
i put more photo's iv said that there mite be a chance it could be fake
what more do you want mate, i think the fact that iv said all this in the listing now proves that im not tiring
to rip any one off im doing the right thing

i dont see any need to remove listing due to the fact that i states it mite be fake and that iv added photos
so people can make there mind up for them slevs

at the end off the day £20 is a fair price for a bike frame no matter what the paint job on it is
its a bike frame mate if someone wants to buy a bike frame that looks like this orange thing whats the problem
im not asking for 100's of pounds, im asking £20

Illiterate too!
