I too was going to suggest a Road/Path frame. My 1950 Macleans Featherweight is virtually the only bike I ride nowadays. Good job there are not many hills in Southend-on-Sea!
I remembered last night that when I used my old JRJ road/path as a winter bike back in the 70's I did drill the rear bridge for a brake and it was fine. I also fitted it with gears - which was an interesting experience when having to remove the back wheel if I punctured out in the wilds of Yorkshire on a wet and windy December afternoon
I did this with a 653 Rourke. Luckily the fork crown was already drilled. I sent it to Jason Rourke to have the rear bridge changed, 3x TT cable guides and a set of DT bottle bosses. It is one of my favourite bike now
