Ready for something rare?

Just before you guys start to wonder, I'm an Univega Alpina Fan and the Boralyn was some kind of dream bike BITD when i was young.
I've got the first frame a while ago but this turned out to be too large for me, than there was a frame damaged by an accident in the woods for cheap money available, so I've simply bought this one, proofing that the smaller size would fit much better for me.
Finally I came across another good one the smaller size. I had to buy this.
Just a few other Bikes are in front of the big queue of projects and overhauls I'm allways planning and re-planning.
So I will definitly build once a Boralyn bike.
The other two frames can move on, just in case someone needs a 20" Boralyn frame in good condition, or a 17" with a hole in the down tube (but other than that also fine, maybe still good to go as a pup bike) just let me know.

I might be interested in the 20". I typed an offer in for this one 4-5 times on Ebay, but each time didn't submit due to the sized and the shipping and import costs.

I was thinking it's rare because it's made of unobtainium so I did a little search and found out they didn't know what they did at Univega either.
Aparently it's why they dropped the whole Boralyn / Boralite.

Only 12 were imported to the UK as frames only.
The rep stated that the metal was so difficult to work with that it wore out the tools therefore making them too expense to produce. A frame in 1994 was £999.00 each. Boralyn was also used on Apache helicopters to assist with weight and bullet proofing the outer skin.

Sounds a bit like making Ti frames. How do they ride compared to other frame materials like Al, Ti, Steel ?

Except Boron Carbide (the bit in the MMC here) is what they add to tools/surfaces to cut Titanium.
