Wouldn't it be easier to just find a new set of bars?
The bars are worth in the region of £300 so I'm not ditching them.
They're a set of bloody handlebars. Get a grip.
Seems an abusive post mate or just a mickey take, I can't decide which one so please enlighten me :?:

If its either you are not helping so be quite

^^^ sorta misses the point of the rarity of the stem.

Ian, try Tescos - they might have some!!! <<< joke!

No, i'm trying to help. Three hundred quid for a set of handlebars is when you're supposed to phone an ambulance.
Either way, if you're willing to drop £300 on a short bit of bendy aluminium pipe, you can surely afford to fit a proper stem instead of hacking one up.
No mate you got this all wrong! Most likely not aware that I've got a near NOS Raleigh bike and the bars
are already fitted to the bike as is a 90mm stem which is too short for me, so this is why I purchased the
110mm stem and was unaware that the bars are 26mm but the stem is 25.4mm, so this is why I'm trying
to find out if its possible to ream out the stem, Finding a 110mm 600AX stem with a 26mm dia' is virtually impossible.

This is my bike:

Handlebars- get a grip

Has Richard checked his attic?

As for only conical reamers, can you smell something? And it's not suds.

Lock it off, ream it and rough it.

So says ex toolroom engineer. :)

Mr History,

I do have some DA AX stuff and some 600AX stuff in my boxes but NOT the right stem which is unfortunate.

Richard

p.s. Have you seen Steven's garage?

Any small light engineering shop would do this for £20.

Its a ten minute job.

I've got one locally that will mill seat posts out of frames for a score.

Saves me a lot of hassle.

I bought one of these with the Dura Ace AX kit in near mint condition at a bike jumble in Newcastle two years ago for £50.

The bars are the thin side of £100 NOS if you shop about. If you paid 300 you were literally robbed.
