I always thought Bombers really suited the look of Zaskars.
I like SIDs, seem to get really good small bump response with air froks, but they are a little flexi. Not ridden an RC35 but I've heard the RC36 is a much better fork.
Afaik from what I've read JUDY/SIDs are the same fork (for the time), just one has air carts in them (SIDs) and JUDY has Springs (or a mix of Spring/Elastomer) I cannot remember exactly when SIDs came out without looking.
The 97/8 forks are the better of the older JUDY's.
The problem of buying second hand is people don't show you them with the legs out, you need to check really as I've had a few with damaged/corroded lower stanchion. ANY damage to these or wear effects their performance. My '97 SL are so much nicer than my earlier 95/6 forks with the same springs in. Dampers are susceptible to damage.
MAG's on the other hand are quite resilient beasts and even the bushings tend not to wear out much. Just the air seals.
Bombers are easy to get running again, just heavier but apparently the best overall performance in the late 90's
PACE, no idea as never used them.
All change with year of course and depends how period correct you're going to be.
MAG21 LT's (60mm) are ~420mm A2C, same as 60mm JUDY's.
I personally prefer my MAG's at the moment to my JUDY forks.
With a good clamping Q/R and tuned to your riding air/oil/oil height, assuming they are not worn, they work fine and dandy.
Don't use wimpy hubs on them though as they do need a good stiff fixing hub (HOPE MONO, with Shimano Q/R's do well but you need to file the inside safety tabs etc off to fit them in .)
This is for general riding, I'm not throwing myself down the Welsh mountains!
But if you want better than you MAG's (if setup well) then go Bombers I would guess.
I've raced my Xizang with 1998 SIDs on it round a fairly technical course during an 8-hour relay. Yes they do flex, but the suspension works well (much better than Judy) and you can't complain about 2.7lb weight.
I weigh 170lbs by the way - if you're a clydesdale I'd go with a Bomber.
Zaskar looks nice, btw Mine's ball burnished (and also a 16" frame - I'm small and light ) though and I'm thinking that PACE will look nice - from the sound of things they're not everyone's cup of tea but I guess I'll have to give them a go (if only for the sake of the twenty year old inside me that always wanted a pair!). Other question is - the Pace forks I've seen so far seem to have 1" or 1 1/4" steerers but my Mag 21s are 1 1/8th. Anyone know if Pace did different sized steerers for the same model forks or if you can sort out the difference with headsets?
Those look nice! I have a couple of other forks in mind at the moment (just waiting to see how price goes) but if I don't have any luck with them I may well give you a shout, esp for £80!

1997 RC36 all the way, light, look cool, easy to service, no flex, look cool and they look cool!!
Just a couple of springs, thats about it, non of that elastomer rubbish!! if you want them harder change the springs mix and match the springs....and they look cool!!!!
I'm running Mag 21's and they are a great fork for me, just very flexy. Just be sure that you use the needlepump carefully, or you might destroy the air valve.
I think the RC36 looks great, but I don't know what the build in height is. Anyone?
