one must consider if just attending is sufficient for restoration in the eyes of the leader.Well that was a waste of time .
I was told I was beyond restoration..
Harsh mate, funny AF thoughone must consider if just attending is sufficient for restoration in the eyes of the leader.
Come in to the light brother, no one has yet to be turned away from being to far gone.........
oh jeezi cheesy, I was wrong, you are well beyond it, go back in to the dark.![]()
Send my best wishes and I hope everything comes out in the wash, so to speak. I'm definitely not a social charmer, ask my wife. No, don't reallyI apologize for posting this here; but it seemed the most aporopriate location due to prior comments.
I got a reply from Jesper after trying email, text, and voice mail.
I can say that his leaving this site has nothing to do with response or lack of response to anything he posted here; it is merely collateral damage from his obline departure. I know he just enters RBotM just for fun and is definitely not concerned with votes or anything along those lines. I was made privy to the reason why he left another bike site (CABE) that contributed to his present attitude towards the internet; but that does not apply here.
It would seem that he is eschewing the internet in general for 2 very specific reasons: content, and lack of internet resources. Aside from the first issue, I'll say that where he lives is a signal desert with such a weak signal that when I was at his house years ago I found out that he would climb onto the roof of his house to obtain the best signal reception; and while there I had extreme trouble using the internet regarding getting a site to load or to upload/download content so ease of use is nearly nonexistent for him. I doubt he can view any video type content at his residences.
I do know that his intent here and on other sites was to learn and provide any knowledge and references he could. Unfortunately, he is not what I would call a "social charmer" and tends to be more clinical in conversation so friendly banter is not his forte and probably accounts for lack of others interacting with him.
Now the bad. Without going into anything specific or personal details I know there is something else (I've known him for well over 20yrs) that underlies some of his behavior. Since I saw the community's comment about his Colnago thread (I was unaware of it) and then looking at it myself it raised a red flag for me. The fact that he appears to be pulling out loads of parts for a single bike seems odd and not charcateristic, and might be his preparation to unload parts and bikes. I never saw nor was told about either of the frames he is working on in that thread which is odd because if he found something he thought I'd be interested in (old Colnagos yes!) I would get tagged online or more often than not I would be contacted directly (mostly at work).
Regarding that Colnago thread (and maybe others) I offered to submit content on his behalf which he had no issues with so I will endeavour to help if provided with photos and what not.
That's all I've got other than to say my friend did not sound very upbeat during our text conversation, and I greatly appreciate the heartfelt concern towards a fellow cyclist and a decent human from the community. Thanks!!
My intention was not speculate on things behind his back, just a genuine observation and concern I got from his comments.I apologize for posting this here; but it seemed the most aporopriate location due to prior comments.
