You done a really good job there especially as it DIY mate it semetrical all over straight decals and the way you left the lugs that was a nice touch look into forward to see it finished are you doing all parts silvet

I was tempted to go for a chrome finishing kit as I had some chrome Tioga bits but I got busy with the cans again and created a matching bar stem combo that has a good amount of rise and imo looks cool as ....

Ye mate everything else has to be plain to show of paint or you do everything ie seatpost crank rims the same if that makes sense

I once did another rasta bike.... The Trimble, it was a real show pony bike for me with kooka, king and other boutiquish parts, I loved it and let it go to chase other dreams, I regret it a little but it's in the past now.
So for this one I have a Deore II groupset, 4 finger levers, biopace, black hubs, crank arms. And finally found... The cantilevers. I was saving it all for a Saracen build but it can go to use here instead.

Nice did you do that paint job as well I will be doing a rasta build as some point that's the kooka crank I want plus the same kooka seatpost and stem if I can ever find them

I had a chap in France offer to do the paint, it was early days for me and I wasn't sure where to start, plus I had millions in the bank to pay someone to do it.
He was called Kris, really nice guy.
Kooka has shot up in £££ so much since that build, a rasta build is gonna cost an arm n a leg these days

Really nice result. Talk us through the primer and paints. It's a minefield for the home sprayer. I've got a 2K MIPA primer aerosol lined-up for some forks.

Honestly.... I went halfrauds!
White primer, 2 days till...
Red, green and leftover yellows from the bees neez. (Halfrauds again)
Leave again for a few days then fine wet n dry all over for imperfections.
Leave a week (working )
Then using tamiya fine masking tapes (as in modeling) wrap, wind, design as required. Spray with black gloss, leave to dry, then a second coat for good cover.
Remove tape when touch dry or happy you got it all covered.
Clearcoat (2k online) leave to dry then using fine wet n dry sand all over lightly, this ensures an even feels over the masked areas.
Apply decals and then apply another clearcoat, sand lightly, and so on until you are happy with the finish.
Well, I'm no expert but this is how it's gone down so far.

Millions in the bank you must be doing some right I know what I be doing so just buy your paint from Halfords then clear coat on line is it easy to blend from one colour to another do you just use the cans or you tried air brushes

@retrobikeguy you got a great habit of picking up these lovely steel steeds and taking them to the next level. Saw this on Instagram last night!
Frameset and bar/stem combo are pretty cool in their own right and this paint really complements it. As you know many UK builders offered pretty out there and flamboyant paint jobs to help sell their frames against US exotica that we always thought were better…
Nice choice of components. Four finger levers are a must with those bars. Looking forward to this progressing!
