yes, that ring at the upper end of the steerer tube is the seat of the upper bearing. hence the steerer tube length is frame size specific. if you cut the steerer tube shorter you will loose the bearing seat. you might be able to custom machine a bearing seat and put it at the right location but the inner diameter of the steerer tube tapers larger towards the bottom and thus you probably wouldn't have enough steerer tube left to properly thighten the MC1. imho it's not worth the hassle and the risk of destroying a nice fork is too large.

I spoke to the kind seller and he bought the frame from someone in Amsterdam,..I HAVE LOOKED FOR THE EXACT SAME BIKE 5 YEARS BACK!!! :shock:

5 years back that seller asked to much for it,.and i remember he had the rigid fork aswell but he sold that one seperate,..
