Raphael Geminiani - NOW SOLD

Re:

Thanks CTK. And you're correct of course. It may be anywhere from 27.0 to 27.4 depending on the tube set. I have just remeasured the seat pin, using a proper micrometer this time (instead of 2 engineer's squares and a ruler!) and it's a tad over 27mm in fact.

So I am now ready to believe the 531 label (remnant) that was on the seat tube when I bought the bike. Now that's cheered me up a bit...

My Peugeot 531 Altus is 26.4

Well, that just goes to show! What it shows I'm not sure - I guess that 531 came in many guises... How old is your Altus? My old thing is around 1970 I think.

26.4 is pretty common for a 531 frame, a lot of Raleigh's had 26.4 seat tubes as its all to do with which flavour of 531 tube set you've got i.e whether its single butted, double butted etc etc. And different frame builders would ream the seat tube opening at different sizes. Not all 531's are equal.

If you google it there's quite a lot of info and few tube set charts that give you all the dimensions
