Raleigh Road Ace 1987 - couple of queries

Are you sure that you need to drill out the brake bridge as the Raleigh’s that pre dare your frame take Allen key brakes, they are also meant for shorter reach brakes than those that you mention
See the complete 87 road Ace here http://veterancycleclublibrary.org.uk/n ... brary).pdf

Hi, fignonFlyer, you're absolutely correct. I discovered that the frame takes Allen key, short drop brakes, which saved me a job.

I picked up a silver 105 5600 groupset off eBay recently, and some other parts and am starting to build it up now. Will post pics when I get a minute.

Re:

Check out "bike it uk"/raleigh road ace on you tube. He recommissioned a lovely rra.

I would keep it original.

Apologies for the poor cell phone pic...WIP

Went for the retro-modern look, as a modern Ultegra 12-30 cassette on the 105 5600 group (52/39 chainrings) will be a bit easier on the hills for me than the 600EX 13-18 (not shown in the pic - current is a 12-25 from the 105 groupset, but have a 12-30 to fit).

Thanks for the reference Ray, that RRA was really nice!
