Finally arrived after being lost in transit. My next project. I've been slowly replacing alloy with steel throughout the fleet, so the road bike is next. I don't ride proper road much so not going to go period, just swap the bits from my 2001 Schils. The frame is the only part worth saving in my opinion.

Still trying to pin it down. Frame number best i can make out - W N/M/H? 3002145

looks like a Raleigh worksop number

Now identified thanks to help on here.

The pics are flattering.

Re: Dave Lloyd Basket Case Retromod Build

Well it's on the drive. Taking mrs HM shopping later. Will ask her to open the boot. Bit of an ice breaker. Will have the engine running.

Re:

There's a really nice frame hiding under all the dust and dirt.

I like the idea of transferring the bits from the Schils, that's just the sort of thing I do as it gives you the best of both worlds.

You also have some salvageable / saleable kit on there. The front hub looks interesting for starters and I think TEL might be interested in the shifters.

When you get it finished I'll bring my DL fleet up for a photoshoot and a ride.

Toe clips and acrylic jerseys mind, none of this modern nonsense.

BTW, what's the frame number?

An engineers vice is usually handy in this situation, even a little one like mine.

Frame No.?

Re:

That's certainly not a Dave Lloyd number, as far as I know all his numbers started LL.

My very early DL has a four digit number, but that's because it was most likely made by Argos in Bristol, which I will confirm with them next week when I take it in.

I've done a bit of a google and the teardrop lugs look similar to some I saw on a Carlton Corsair, so you need to get some of the Carlton / Raleigh boys on the case.

I don't think DL resprayed bikes and badged them as his own, although this was something Brian Rourke and I assume others did, so it could be that as it was such a big frame he contracted it out and then finished it in house.

The decals are from around the late 80's to very early 90's. I have seen the same design on a Chaos Theory mtb as well as a very early Cats Wiskas and a couple of BEEZ NEEZ. He then changed to a similar looking script decal, but without the black line around each letter.

Looks like you have yourself a nice mystery project, excellent.
