Raleigh Pursuit colour match

Hi, I am 'doing up' a Raleigh Pursuit that I found in my son-in-laws shed. It has not been looked after. I have knocked out most of the dents in the steel rims and got them polished up. My problem is finding a colour match in order to get some touch up paint for all the honourable and dishonourable scrapes. It is a slightly metallic red colour. My visit to Halfords this morning found some close matches in Ford Rosso Red and Honda Milano Red, but without the metallic touch. Can anyone advise me of the actual colour that Raleigh used, or a Pantone identification? :?:

Don't ask what year it is. I don't know. However it does seem to have two serial numbers, one under the BB and one on the seat post just above the BB.

Thanks for any help.

Hi

Raleigh stamped their number on everything, bean counters :)

The number under the seat is likely the real number, we used to put the postcode under the bb.

Raleigh dark metallic red was called Carmine. IIRC code was RMM116 (paint) CF14 (colour). Best bet is the nail varnish counter at Boots :)

Any pics?

Honestly once "knocking out dents" is a thing you can do to a wheel, that wheel wants binning.

True, But it's not my bike and it would be my money! I'll go as far as new bar tape and touch up paint, but that's it.

Circa 1988/9 I reckon

Frame number 'should' be behind the seat tube and will begin with an N

I bought some Humbrol 1321 enamel this aft at the local Hobbycraft. The colour looked a good match but it looks a bit dark now that I have applied a test bit. I might need to stir the tin a bit more.

Re:

Have fun with the project . Pound land is best for cheap nail varnish for colour matching or your local market . You may get some odd looks
