For those of you that follow my channel, unveil on my next project, a damaged rare Raleigh Metropolitan, arguably the first of the Hybrids and trail bikes, made for just 6 months, before Raleigh launched the Gemini, before replacing it with the Pioneer. we also visited this week the Raleigh chopper show, you `ll find the link below as well.

I found your Maverick ride video on YouTube. I dont know what I was expecting exactly however it wasn't that. I made my own video tonight of a Maverick ride. The soundtrack is the airwolf theme although I perhaps should have replaced that with the topgun theme. It rides fairly nicely for the tube specification, it probably isn't tacked together with nails and it certainly isn't 531. Would love to find something the same size and shape and a bit sprightlier... I'll investigate the Gemini. Anyways, I might watch some more of your videos now, cheers!

cheers butty, I love the old steel frames, there was a stunning maverick on eBay last week for 80 quid, nicer than mine is now, but was east coast and not worth the petrol from cardiff, to go and get it. you all have to send me a link butty

if you fancy some projects, I've got a 531 Gemini xc pro frame set here and a 531 mk Avanti frame set. I've got so much on at the moment, I don't have time for them. so I'd be open to offers. not much, the Avanti owes me 100 and the trail owes me 50. I'd let the pair go for 100. the Gemini would prob need a respray though.

aaah this is the maverick video, that was a metropolitan, a type of maverick, city bike, to replace the superbe.

Hmmm...
3 speed + 3 darts? But that's not specific to a MK1 gear knob, plus MK1's came with different gear knobs (US 5 & 10 speed had T-bar shifters)

Both blessed by Eric Bristow? It's reported that during the MK1 Chopper production run, Eric earned £38,971 for blessing each MK1 gear knob. Tough gig!

I`d forgotten about that little teaser...................well,.....back in the day, any kid at school doing his Metalwork studies had to produce something made on a Lathe, which included turning/drilling/threading/knurling & Polishing. And almost all kids made a set of Darts, then came along the MK1 Chopper & instantly we all made ally` gear knobs ......there were some beaut`s
