Raleigh Mantis series one

Retro Newbie
Hi all!

I've been looking into buying myself a gravel bike and, looking at a lot of them, they look very similar to my old bike from the 90s.

Would it be worth doing up my old frame? Or is it just gonna be heavy and rubbish compared to modern bikes? The one I'm looking at is steel frame and fork and weighs 11.8kg including an 'everything' cage.

I'd like a bit more comfort than my road bike and the ability to travel along some unpaved roads.

I've attached a picture of it - please ignore the flat tyres! :)

Thanks,
Jess

Re:

Give it to a needy soul, who simply wants free transport. You will go to heaven, it will bring you good karma, and it will unclutter your space for a Bicycle.

Just dont throw it in the river, you will no doubt get caught and fined.

All joking aside, if you ever got pleasure from riding your mantis, as any two wheeled machine can bring, you wont Know yourself on a better quality offering. The wheels will stay straight, the gears will work and it will stop on the button, it will be a pleasure to ride by comparison, it might even make you wonder why you didnt do it years ago.
