I've just bought a Dune Dancer frame, I'm surprised how nice it is for a mass produced 501 frame.

However, I'm struggling to find out much about it, such as the years they were made and the components they came built up with.

Are there any Raleigh experts out there that can help me?

I remember the Dune Dancer 8), It was a light blue metallic with Deore LX groupset , STi shifters, Vetta Gel saddle, Zoom stem & Handle bars that matched the frame and fork colour IIRC 8) I think it would be about 1991 -1992 era

Oaklec ,

I'd never heard of the Dune Dancer til I read your thread and by coincidence one came up on Gumtree Glasgow yesterday. I picked up the complete , original bike for £30.

It has LX group set and Mavic rims. I havn't had a chance to look at it in daylight yet !

If it turns out to be crap I'll at least get my money back :D

I remember it well, too.

I have a slightly irrational attraction to them, as has been said, a cool name, and the colour of the frame was really nice, in the steel (so to speak...)

Lx Groupset?

Is it the one with the Black crank and silver chainrings?

circa 1993?
I want to think Dune Dancers heralded from the time when LX was just silver.
