Raleigh Chopper MK2

Retro Newbie
Hello,
Do anyone know I have a MK2 and I don’t know wether to paint it and make the paint look brand new or keep it as it is so it looks more original. Does anyone know which would look better?

New paint might look better in some people's opinion but unless it is in a bad state keep it original. Those old choppers seem quite collectable now and probably worth more if original.

I remember them as crap, heavy and uncomfortable. Sorry. But if I liked them I'd want one with its original paint. If you can get a good colour match from car paint or even nail varnish you could maybe touch in any blemishes on the original paint. Test it somehwhere inconspicuous first - underside of the frame.

Post up a pic - don't see too many choppers here and I do remember them well if not fondly.

Hello could you give me your phone number so I can send them there it won’t let me do it here thanks.

It all depends on the condition of paint. And you need to use a resizer or a hosting site.

Re:

Top of the page right-hand side there's a Black box with Google search bar, just type in Add Photos and hit Enter!

My 8-year old face would agree with you there. If I could find my old school picture as proof, the scabs had come off but the red blotches were plain to see.

I'm a bit old for the Chopper thing, I had an Elswick
Jetstream by the time they came out. Did take one for a brief spin, hard keeping the front wheel down. Not Raleigh's finest design, or the lightest, but they are iconic in a purple paisley, spacehoppery way. Keep it as original as poss if you're planning to sell, do what seems fun if you're not.
