Raleigh Banana mountain bike - dynatech

Re:

Just confused myself seeing it in the road bike section but it's definitely a Mountain Bike you're on about so glad I was right the first time  .

Yeah definitely worth restoring if you ask me, check out my build thread of my 90 dynatech mission (link below in my signature). It's essentially the same frame but with shimano DX and a different paint job. The 2070 tubeset was equivalent to Reynolds 653 with the back end being 531 I think. Just been sourcing a Suntour XC Pro groupset and the bits are out there but some parts are fairly scarce and quite expensive (depends what you want to spend and how original you want to get the bike really).

Re:

You guys are brilliant and thanks for taking the time to reply. Talking of road bikes it would be lovely to get my old rourke back - green and yellow paint job (think it even had my name in the top tube) C record delta group set and time pedals .. Now that was a beauty !! Why oh why do we ever let these things go !!!! I have a romantic notion it's out there somewhere. I'll come back and post some pictures of the mountain bike as I'm going to restore the thing. It has too many memories and was a lovely bike. Thanks again guys

Re:

Look forward to seeing it being restored.

Get a build thread posted in the "Reader's MTBs --> 1997" section though so we can find it
Plenty of folk on here to offer advice etc. and if you're sourcing parts either use the "Auction Watch" section (Tab at the top of the page) or post an ad in the Wanted section for those hard to find bits, someone will have the bits you're after on here no doubt.

Yes as DynaCol said as their will be a few interested parties on here including me ;) and of course the plus side is being able to get some useful advice off other members and maybe a chance of much needed parts too ..

Hi guys

Well i have the frame back now and its actually in a relatively decent nick age forgiving. I am going to get it resprayed so would be grateful where or who but spoke to a lovely guy at atlantic boulevard and he quoted £350 including transfers etc which is on the top side of what I wanted to pay but I don't really know where the price should be. Is this expensive or not ?

Also for those interested it has some of the old components still on it bottom bracket, Tioga headset (oversized) and Suntour XC brakes still attached.

If I can work out how to send pics I now have it so I can send some decent photos for anyone interested (and who can tell me how to attach pics)

Thanks guys - exciting prospect riding my old bike from when I was a kid

Hi guys

Also I know I am posting in the wrong section so not sure if our thread can be moved to the Dynatech section

Thanks

You need to ask a mod or admin member to move this thread into the correct section and is that price definitely in £s and not $s as i don't know what part of the world your from although i assume your in the uk and although £350 does seem a bit pricey unless you can get a cheapish deal on the decals and fit them yourself as the cost of an enamel paint finish isn't that cheap these days esecially a two tone finish as a single paint finish can cost around the £220 mark unlike the 2 tone enamel paint finish i had done back in 96 at £35 ...

So are you linked up with a photo hosting company such as photo bucket , image shack , flickr or imgur although photo bucket is free for the basic option but can be a mare with ads unless you use an ad blocker or if your using a laptop or pc once you've uploaded your pics to that you can then find and upload them through the browse option on at the bottom of where you right your posts ..
