Question about AS Gillott

Retro Newbie
Hi,

I was hoping someone here could help. I currently own an A S Gillott road bike which belonged to my Father in Law. I am looking to sell it, but I have no idea what it is worth or where is best to sell it. I have no idea how to find out more about it. If anyone has any advice or knowledge on A S Gillott bikes it would be great to hear from you.

Thanks :)

Re:

Is there any serial number on it? Not seen any with brake cable braze-ons, on top of the top tube. Could of had upgrades? May or may not be Gillott.

Re:

Looks like an Edwardes Gillott (post 1963) to me.

Why? Looks to have a full wrapover seatstay and two bottle cage bosses...

Jon.

Re:

Looks like a nice bike in good condition. What are the dimensions ?
Seat tube centre to top
top tube / crossbar centre-centre
wheel size as written on the tyre
Where are you ?

Thanks everyone for the replies. To be honest it needs a bit of TLC. I've hunted for a serial number in all the obvious places but not found one.

It's 58cm in both directions. And the wheels are 32-622.

I live near Buxton Dirt Disciple.

too big for me :(

theres a bloke? on ebay listing a gillot at about 500 quid itsbeen on for months, no takers, obviously not worth it, hes trying it on.

Re:

A lot of faux Gillotts around so buyer beware, many try it on (often the sellers don't know what they've got - i.e an Edwardes Gillott).

The information is there in the public domain, if looks too modern it isn't a Gillott.

Jon.
