Proposed MTB Classified split

The MTB classifieds seem popular to say the least!

As such it has been suggested we split the classifieds. Interested to get user input before we do anything.

Suggestions would be

1. Bikes & everything else
->MTB Bikes For Sale
->MTB Everything else For Sale

2. Bikes, components & everything else
->MTB Bikes For Sale
->MTB Components For Sale
->MTB Everything else For Sale

3. Leave as is


So, vote now.

Would be nice to split along modern and retro lines, however this would simply be unworkable...

I guess we would have to keep an eye on bikes that went in one forum, didn't sell and people started calling dibs before it has been moved to parts forum blah blah blah. Could work or could mean me looking at three forums and kicking myself for missing stuff three times!

Would be nice if you wanted a pair of forks or wheels and you did not have to look through three pages to find them under stuff you have no interest in,just my two penneth worth.

Leave it as it is in my opinion. As said above, it could get messy when bikes are split etc.
More for you mods to keep an eye on too I would have thought!

it is true that present setup is actually tricky if you want to do a search on specific parts
as multiple words search rarely yield a manageable result. so if you don't want to "miss" what is going on, you need to watch nearly daily

other setup as the german one on mtbnews.de is much more precise ( in a german manner ) as you have different categories
full bikes, frames, cranks, brakes etc..
but it is the setup for "modern bikes" so there is probably the issue of number of ads being posted

in conclusion I believe its either no categories as present setup or 5 or 6 precise ones but in the middle is "no progress" :idea:

Best left alone I think, seems to work ok at present. Not too many people complaining about the current setup anyway.

I also think it's best left alone. Part of the fun is searching through the classifieds to find what you want, and didn't realise you needed.

leave as is i think personally, it leaves only one section to look at rather than flipping between potentially 3 sections. obviously we have the "view new posts" where all new posts are but sometimes using that as opposed to the individual section it is possible to miss something that you may have needed.


also, i think we already have fragmented some sections, some of which work very well, but is the forum becoming like cycling itself? meaning what are you into? niche of a niche etc?

xc/freeride/allmountain/downhill/dirtjump/trials/trails/road/cross/street/fixie/singlespeed/29ers/36ers/retro/vintage/blah blah blah.

i just think that simplicity is the way forward.
