Proflex Restoration

Rodrigo004

Retro Newbie
Hi guys,

I bought this Proflex in a car boot sale in West Sussex.

I`m in the process of renovating it and still don’t know which Proflex it is!

I`ve tried looking everywhere but I can’t find a match. Also, some parts are limited edition and I can’t pinpoint the specs.

According to the seller, this bike belonged to a professional mountain biker, I thought it was just a selling pitch.

I`ll post some pics of the bike including serial number H7L016982 (which a lot of you say it doesn’t mean much) and parts (limited edition), front and rear suspension ( Risse Racing Technology Genesis, custom build by CVI, serial number 1031676), I looked for the suspension online and never came across with “custom build by CVI”

Middleburn Crank (Limited edition 091/100), also if someone could point me to the right specs would be great.

I`m not sure if people would be interested in seeing the restoration progress so I`ll just upload the pics necessary to id the bike and the other 2 components.

I do apologize for all the questions but if there`s anyone there who has any knowledge about this bike please let me know.

SPECS:

Proflex frame?

Magura HS33

Wellgo pedals LU-953 98C

Front and Rear Shocks Risse Genesis by CVI?

Shimano FH-MC18 parallax

Max stem?

Well, can only attach 10 pics so I hope it is enough to get someone`s interest.

Hi, and welcome.

An Animal frame maybe, as it has an aluminium swingarm.

The cranks are RS3's i think.

What other limited edition parts does it have?

And we always like seeing a bike bought back to life around here :)

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The crank is a Middleburn limited edition 091/100, I`ve checked online and I cant match it to any pic, am I missing something here?
The suspension is a bit of a mystery ( Risse Racing Technology Genesis, custom build by CVI). Also, can`t find an exact match.
Maybe I`m growing too attached to this bike and everything looks special. :)

I`ll post a couple of more pics (before and after) if you guys are interested.
Give me a day or 2 and I`ll put them together.

The cranks are RS3's, they did a limited run, probably to boost sales, the RB search is one of the best places to look :)

And the Risse shocks were a popular upgrade for the Proflex.

Hello, this bike will be what you want it to be. I dont think you've stumbled on something exclusive. Its been somebody's pet project though.
More of a decent quality full suss from the 90's with some nice parts bolted on.
The serial doesnt speak 9xx series (although im no expert) i would suggest 7 or 8xx series. See the catalogues on here for reference.
Fork legs seem painted, as the proflex yellow is more of a mustardy yellow, the rear swing arm more of a banana yellow. Wishbone silver or anodised silver.
Crack on mate, get something nice up and running.

Thanks Marc, all info is more than welcome. I`ll start to putting the bike together in a week or so....I hope and I`ll post some nice pics from before and after :)
