Hi, i have recently acquired a proflex k2 1000.... My question is, is it any good!? Seems a bit of a pogo stick this one too.... More hassle than its worth and should i invext my time and money on my orange c-16 instead and flog this? Thanks for any advice or opinion

If the shock shaft is not corroded then mick gardner racing will rebuild the shock for a reasonable sum, otherwise it's time to send it to the states for a new shaft and a rebuild. . .not cheap.

pics will help advise what options you have.

If the shock is fubarred then you've got four options. New Noleen, New Risse, make an adaptor for fox or similar (probably ending up as expensive as the firt two).

To be honest I couldn't recommend you to buy new shocks for that bike a purely financial sense, 1 new shock will probably outweigh the value of the bike in it's current state.

Not sure what your point is there? Please explain?

Im guessing in one hand your asking for advice and on the other its up for sale on Ebay, dont forget you have an audience of potential buyers on this forum, who will also offer loads of advice if you require it.

It sounded like you were thinking of keeping it, however if you are selling your maybe best to leave it as is and focus on the C16R or Cannondale :D

yeh its on ebay, and also on here... for 2 reasons..one to test the water cos i have no idea if i got a bargain or not, and as you know you can pull an ebay auction up to 12 hours befoer the end.... if i got a bargain and found it was worth 200 quid, id get rid and liek you say invest in the Orange... similarly if you guys on here (who Im amazed at how much peopel are still into old stuff) told me it was a great bike and worth spending moeny on restoring, id put more thought into it...but the general view seems to be to let it go as its not really that good, and would cost a bomb to restore....

i love the older bikes partly due to my youth and knowing what to do with older stuff / terminoligy etc!... but the proflex may be beyond me as a project as i dont have experience in strippign and rebuilding suspension....!!

nothign underhand in putting it up for sale while seekign advicein the meantime...its not sold till its sold!!.... I think as you say though, Ive made up my mind... came to work on the orange today and was amazed how tight it rode ..... love it!.... with time ill upgrade the trusty stx rc groupset on it... ive an in bits cannondale m500 coming at the weekend... so that may offer up some parts depending on the spec as ive not seen it in the flesh yet! (youll see from my ebay profile im sure that I paid 27 squid for it!!)...

this place seems great though and is only going to make my interest in the old stuff greater!... seeing as I cant afford to play with casr anymore due to the family...bikes may help feed that thirst!!!
