Proflex Elastomer question

thanks again I'll try those measurements for now. I figured out that white piece. It pops into the top of the seatstay on the opening facing the shock. It hold the lower metal disc in place. so now that that is figured out I'm a little closer to having this bike done.

I have one of those shock boots I might use it. It'll just depend on whether the spacer look "custom" or "just plain sad" when I'm done.

But at least you're getting thing sorted whereas I'm pretty much riding a rigid with the elastomers turned to stone :roll: I need to sort something out, make sure to let us know how it rides when you're done!

I used these once in a set of Vectors - gave 1" travel. Sure it would be better on the back where there is more weight.

You could drill some holes (vertically for cosmetic reasons) in the land rover bump stops to get more flex / travel.

A much tidier solution is to use the elastomers from the big butt lady seats

They work much better than some other methods:

BITD i remember an article in MBUK that had them trimming elastomers to reduce the spring rate slightly - by aming one end of the elastomer a cone you can make it softer (basically as there is less material to "resist")

Well Pigeon yours right. Their is a scary resemblance. I haven't named the bike yet but I'm sure it will now have some thing to do with gyro's.

The measurements that Lysander gave ended up being perfect. Each ring was just over 1mm so it was easy to get it where I wanted it.

was8v I can probably trim those rings a bit for the same result. I might give that a whirl affter the carpal tunnel dies goes away from the first cutting.

After a little looking I found out that since that place in Scotland closed its doors a place that makes elastomers opened in New Mexico. They were $45 so I figured I'd try it this way first.

I do like the way it turned out. I just have a few more things to throw on it, but she should be ready for her maiden voyage later today.

Thanks to all you folks for your input. I have never used a bike forum as a resource before and it's been a good experience. Plus I love all the people that have a proflex out there.

Now back to the gyro or kabob, or soon to be named bike.
