The MCU stacks have entirely disintegrated. I’ve removed what I can but the remains are really sticky.

Can anyone recommend a product that would eat through the stickiness?
Not quite sure how I’m going to clean the inside of the upper tubes, perhaps a rag soaked in product on a stick?

As I was cleaning them out the Judy Jax just kept coming! 7 from each leg! Service guide suggests there should only be 5!

The sticky residue left by price / barcode stickers is easily removed with WD40.. so I’d try that first.. put plenty on and let it soak in for 20mins.. alternatively, you could try soaking in 99.9% IPA with zero risk to paint or plastic parts.

If these don’t work, maybe try some acetone but use it on a cloth with gloves.. wipe on, wipe off.. don’t leave it on the plastic or it could make it tacky.

Fire. :)

I like IPA for sticky stuff removal. not great for rubber though, so keep away from seals if you plan to expose for prolonged periods.

you'll need to pull the legs anyway at this point, so seals shouldn't be there.

Warm soapy water with a bit of elbow grease, or anything with trichloroethylene will work, I.e electrical contact cleaner or brake/clutch cleaner etc

The condition of the elastomers you show there is pretty good still! they just crumbled. Be happy ...

Molten Manitou elastomers are the end boss :-) I use heat, acetone and nitro thinner to clean everything off. Sometimes, you just need the big hammer. I do have a great workshop axial ventilation and a mask of course.

Sorry, but "soapy water" etc. will literally do nothing here!

Better invest in some IPA by the sounds of it (though disappointed turns out it's not India Pale Ale being recommended).
Warm soapy water struggled to remove the remnants from my hands so can't see that having any effect on the forks.

Bit confused why the MCU was yellow and all one colour - perhaps not original?
