occasion: 1590g light principia gaia 60cm frame in bleach yellow (eye-catching). the danish frame manufacturer principia was founded by three cycling enthusiasts to ‘build the best road bike frame in the world’. with high-quality welded seams, ovalised tubes and the lightweight 7020 aluminium alloy that was not very common at the time, products were created that had already completed well over 30 million load cycles under laboratory conditions by the early 1990s until they broke without cracking (see here) - a frame for life.
the bsa thread is flawless and has been professionally side-milled. the frame fits 130mm | 700C rear wheels, 1’ forks, Ø27.2mm posts. a 57cm top tube (M-M) is comparatively compact for a 60cm frame (62cm measured to the top edge). the brake cable runs through it. cable feed-throughs and cable routing are included.
thanks to its low mileage, the condition of the frame is very nice and without chainsuck despite its estimated age of almost 3 decades. the fine decals are coming off in places. top tube has inconspicuous micro dents that could not be captured photographically. a principia gaia frame cost around 1500dm (old german currency) at the time.
